Blue Backside Chickens

On the farm there is a well known medication used on animals. It is called Blue Lotion, although purple in color once it has been applied to a wound it will last for months on the wound. One day as a tiny country girl with nothing to do... I watched the large number of big white hens we had pecking in the yard. Hummmmmmmm I thought! Hrs. later my momma walked out the door of the house to see big white hens with blue backsides in the air...for some unknown reason straight to me she came...Why did you do that to those hens?...I figured the eggs would come out for Easter pre-dyed. I received a real good tanning for that..the chicken were not the only thing with blue backsides! Visitors would came to the house saw the hens with blue backsides & had to ask what in the world? Momma would always explain with a hidden laf & smile.
